Activating software

When you install software on a computer, you must activate the software. Depending on the type of account, this is done in two different ways:

  • Single user account

    Set 'Account Type' dropdown box on 'Information Gateway'

    Enter your account ID (number) in the 'Customer ID' field and your password in the 'Password' field, then click 'Activate'.

  • Multi user account

    Set 'Account Type' dropdown box on 'Company'

    Here, the company account owner, gives you access to run our software with a shared account. In this case, the account owner provides the account id and an activation code for you to activate your installation with.Enter the account ID (number) in the 'Customer ID' field and the activation code in the 'Password' field, then click 'Activate'.

Reactivating software

If you change or reset your password for your Information Gateway single user account, you must reactivate all licensed protected software with your new password. If not, you will receive an error when trying to run software. When the license activation dialog appear, follow the activation procedure for single user accounts as described above.

Same procedure applies to company accounts, in case the activation code have been changed. Receive the account ID and new activation code from the account owner and do and follow the activation procedure for company user accounts as described above.

License protection messages

Most of our desktop software are protected from unauthorized use by a license manager. This license manager is activated on startup of the software, verifying that your account on Information Gateway is eligible to run the software. Depending on the account status and software access status, different messages can be displayed. Below are the different types of messages, with more details on why they are displayed and actions needed. Either the header or the message will give you information what kind of error it is.

  • Incorrect ID/Password

    This is a generic error, that can mean different things depending on the actual error.

    • Verify that you use the correct ID. For company accounts, use the ID provided by the account owner. The ID is a number.
    • For single user accounts, you need to use the same password you use on your Information Gateway account. If you have reset or changed your password at Information Gateway, use the new one.
    • For company accounts, you use the activation code as password. Make sure to use the correct activation code, given to you by the account owner.
    • If you are a new user, registered from 2018-04-23 and onward:
      • If you have not activated your account yet, i.e. you have got an account, but have not created a password and logged in, you will see this error. Make sure you create a password and activate the account. If your password creation link have expired, use the reset password function to request a new.
      • If your account have been deactivated or anonymized, most likely due to long inactivity (see terms), you will also get this error.
    • If you had an account before 2018-04-23, these are the most possible reasons for this error:
      • If you haven't reactivated your account yet, you must do this. Log in, review and update your profile data and make sure to save it regardless if you update anything or not. This will activate your account again.
      • There can be profile data that is not valid, such as missing data that is now required. Log in and update your profile data.
      • If you have not accepted the new terms, log in to do this.
      • Old accounts, not used since 2018-04-23, will be marked inactive and then anonymized, starting May 2019. Trying to use an account in inactive or anonymized status will also generate this error.
  • License amount exceeded

    This means you have activated a software on more computers then you are allowed. Activation is by default only allowed on a limited number of different computers. If you get this error, please contact your contact person or our global support email. A common cause to this error is when you upgrade to a new computer for different reasons.

  • License period has expired

    This means you license period has expired. You can request a license period extension when logged in to Information Gateway. On the start page, you should see a button to create a license period extension if any software expires within 3 months. Do this and we handle your request and extend your license periods.

  • Invalid software license

    In this case, you are trying to use software you do not have access for. If you want or need to use the software, you can request access to it when logged in to Information Gateway.

  • Other errors

    There are some other errors that can be raised. In this case, pay attention to the error message and follow the instructions.
